Alkaline Water

Alkaline water seems to be all the rave on the internet these days, and I have to say I’m truly a fan.  But do you really know what alkaline water is?

What is Alkaline water?  Alkaline water has a higher pH level than plain water and can neutralize acid in your blood stream, boost your metabolism, and help your body absurd nutrients more effectively.  It can also help prevent diseases and slow down the aging process.

NOTE: The pH scale originates from from chemistry and is a way to measure the acidity or alkalinity of something. The scale runs from 0 to 14.

7 is considered neutral, ) is very acidic and 14 is very alkaline.  The ideal pH for  humans is 7.4.

An easy way to maintain alkalinity is to consume least five glasses of alkaline water a day.

Acid levels: Ever wonder why you may feel sluggish, drained/tired, even if you’re getting enough rest? That could be a sign that the acidity levels in your body are too high.

Having too much acid in your body can weaken all your systems. Your body has to borrow minerals from your bones, teeth, and organs to neutralize excess acidity.

High acid levels might lead to diarrhea, skin issues, osteoporosis, anxiety, rheumatoid arthritis, and impaired immune function.  It will also interfere with your bodies ability to heal or produce energy.

Benefits of Alkaline Water:

  1. Rich in Antioxidants
  2. Natural cleanse/detox
  3. Rejuvenates the skin and helps keep it hydrated
  4. Lubricates muscles and joints to help with injuries
  5. Great for digestion
  6. Helps blast belly fat

Tip: Adding fresh Lemon or Lime to your water will make it Alkaline.

Below, I’m sharing a few of our favorites combos that are loaded with Antioxidants from the free berries.

Recipes:

  • Cucumber, Lemon, Lime, and Mint Leaves
  • Basil, Lemon, and Strawberry
  • Blueberry, Cucumber, Lime, and Mint Leaves

Instructions:

1. Rinse all ingredients before placing them in water.  Slice lemons, limes, and other ingredients – to your liking and place in Mason jars. Fill with water. Store in refrigerator or let sit at room temperature for 2-4 hours.  *The longer they sit, the better the flavor.

*NOTE: I like to squeeze fresh lemon or lime juice in more water to make it more alkaline.

Enjoy!

Note:  They’re usually good for at least 2 days.
