Fresh. Local. Organic.

Every weekend, we like to visit the local Farmers Markets – at both  Grant Park & Freedom Farmers Market (Carter Center).  It’s something we truly look forward to.   Not only do we get to support other Small Business,  we love that every item we buy is so full of flavor, in season, organic – not covered in pesticides, and it helps knowing where your food is coming from.  

Most of the the farms, are family ran businesses.  You may meet the Father, Wife, Son, and Daughter + Husband and Wife teams ….. all there at the outdoor market on a cold winter day.  It’s so cute to see the the children helping out:)  Full of enthusiasm! It’s a very informative experience. Even offering tours of their Family Farms 🙂

We always take a second to tell the farmers how much we love their produce and fresh grass fed meats,  and thank them for coming out every weekend. 

Why We Love the Farmers Markets? 

Eating Real Food:

Cooking local and using the Farm to table method, has stepped our cooking + fitness results up BIG TIME!  Totally controlling what goes in our bodies. It limits bloating, gas, constipation, helps improve your overall digestion.

Nothing is packaged.  Knowing every ingredient.  

Spice Up the Variety:

You will always find an array of produce that you will not find at the traditional supermarkets. If you love food, it’s exciting!  

Nourish Your Body:

Many items found in the grocery store are highly processed and grown using pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, and GMO’s – Lacking Nutrients.  These practices have such a negative effect on human health.  Shopping at the farmers market, we’ve found many farmers go to great lengths to grow the most nutritious produce possible and avoid inhumane care for the animals. 

We just love it!  If there are any Farmers Markets near you, give them a try.  It may seem a little different at first being that nothing is in pretty packages and sealed tight with an expiration date.  But according to the USDA, “you can eat certain  foods  18 months after the expiration date.” WHAT KIND OF CHEMICAL IS THAT??  Seriously!   The fresher the better.  Limiting as many unknown ingredients as you possibly can (if you can’t pronounce it -don’t eat it).

Made a fresh salad as soon as I got home lol! Could wait. The lettuce was so soft.  

Simple salad:

Roman lettuce, cucumber, bell peppers, red onion, avocado, and parmesan. YUM!

This looks yummy! I didn’t know they had a local farmers market every weekend during fall/winter…hmm, guess that’s one of the reasons I love this site so much!!
