St. Maarten – 2013 / Saint Martin
June 6th, 2015
Summer is near and we are beach dreaming!
We’re taking you on a trip down memory lane to Summer 2013 when Kariim and I went to St. Maarten.
About SINT MAARTEN – SAINT MARTIN: provides vacationers the opportunity to enjoy three distinct cultures on one 37 square mile island. There is the delightfulness and soberness of the Dutch on one side, the savoir-faire of the French on the other, and the blending of both with exotic native heritage.
Add dozens of beaches and lagoons, luxury hotels, elegant villas, and over 300 restaurants and you may understand why St. Martin is the most visited of all the Leewards. All the great chefs, European, American, or Asian vie to compete in this gourmet capital of the Caribbean, creating cuisines equal to the best of Paris or New York.
Our Time There: We spent 7 days and 6 nights on this beautiful island. One thing we dislike doing when traveling, is doing everything “Touristy” …lol! We absolutely hate that!!! So before visiting, we do tons of research on the must see/places, Resturants to visit, finding what best suits what we like to do. Utilizing social media outlets like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for research, to see current activity happening with real people. Reading reviews. Instead of what’s listed on Google or TripAdvisor Only.
The excitement for us is enjoying the experience as if we are locals. That’s always so exciting:)
EXPLORING: Enjoying delicious cuisine is very important. Trying new flavors we hadn’t tried before. Going to the happening spots that the locals go to, experiencing the culture, photography and doing so with style 🙂
Getting our “Anthony Bourdain” on….#Adventurous
Trip Highlights:
**Driving through the town and pulling over at what looked like an old shack on side of the road. The cab driver told us about this place ……..Turned out to be a Family owned and operated restaurant that had some of the BEST FOOD on the Dutch side of St. Maarten. Delicious and Authentic.
*Taking a boat ride to St. Barth’s. LOVED IT!!! Delicious food, Fashion/Style, Cool & swanky! It was so beautiful and quaint. This would definitely be a repeat visit. #StBarths
Wish we could’ve captured every moment!
Sharing some of the pictures below:)
After landing.
At Maho Beach
Watching the planes come in at Maho Beach. If you look closely, you can see me in standing in the photo trying to capture a pic of the plane. Kariim was able to capture the photo perfectly. 🙂 #LovedIT
Driving around Philipsburg — the Capital of Sint Maarten.
They’re roaming the streets freely 🙂
The End!
In 11 days, we’ll be headed to BARBADOS!!!! We’re so excited and can’t wait to share the details of this trip with you all.
Stay Tuned!!!! #LifeSTYLE
